Street structures ($7 million)The City maintains 350 street structures such as stairways, retaining walls, bridges, viaducts and tunnels. This bond is repairing deteriorating City-owned bridges, overpasses and staircases throughout San Francisco.
This network of structures is critical to providing pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular access to the City's overall street and roadway system. Public Works has completed several repair and maintenance projects with the first year of bond funding, including the repair of guardrails along Bernal Heights Boulevard, the repair of handrails at the 22nd Street Stairway, the repair of damaged steps at the Sunglow Lane Stairway, and installation of solar lights at the Saturn Street Stairway. Public Works is currently rebuilding a portion of the stairway at the 16th Avenue Stairs (aka Hidden Garden Stairs), and repairing guardrails along Alemany Boulevard. |
Upcoming projectsDesign for several projects is underway, including the replacement of guardrails
at the Highland and Richland Street bridges, work to the Fourth Street Bridge, and the replacement of the ventilation system at the Broadway Tunnel. Work is also planned for the Filbert Stairs, Islais Creek Bridge, Alemany retaining wall, Broadway Tunnel ventilation system, and concrete slope projects at the Highland and Richland Street bridges.
